Hi, I’m Khandiz Joni, MIEMA CEnv

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been curious about how seemingly unconnected things are, in fact, deeply connected.

Sure, I could have written a traditional ‘about’ page, but let’s face it, they’re boring, typical, and expected—and I’m none of those things. Instead, this page offers insight into who I am, how I work, what I offer, and how my non-linear, unconventional journey—from makeup artist to multi-dimensional sustainability practitioner and systems designer—can help you transform your business from sustaining the status quo, to becoming regenerative by nature. Together, we can transform your business into one that confidently contributes to a healthier, safer, and brighter future—for Life.

Mission, purpose & guiding principles

Empowering behaviour change through creativity

My purpose is to make a transformative and lasting impact on the people and organisations I connect with. Inspiring them to see, think, and feel differently about our world and our place in it.

Here’s the plan.

Cultivate awareness

I shine a light on the connection between human activities and the natural world, so you can make informed, ethical decisions every day.

Promote regenerative practices

I guide you towards practices that rejuvenate yourself, nature and society, so you can prioritise long-term well-being over short-term gains.

Build community & connection

I facilitate collaborative projects and conversations, so you can harness the power of shared knowledge and experiences to drive that change you want to see.

Personalise consultancy & design

I offer tailored solutions that align with your unique needs, so you can integrate regenerative principles seamlessly into your strategies and systems.

Prioritise quality & trust

I foster mutual respect and a commitment to quality, building lasting partnerships focused on enduring solutions rather than quick fixes—so you can do the same.

The workflow

What to expect

Let’s Get Acquainted: We start with a deep-dive meeting to understand your current status, challenges, and future goals.
Crafting Your Custom Proposal: I’ll prepare a tailored proposal that aligns with your unique needs and objectives, ensuring it’s both actionable and impactful.
Project Kickoff: Once the proposal is approved, we roll up our sleeves and get started, setting clear milestones to keep us on track.
Making it Happen: This is where the magic happens. We put the plan into action, with regular updates to keep you engaged.
Check-In and Adjust: We pause periodically to review our progress, tweak the plan if needed, and make sure we’re hitting our targets.
The Final Flourish: At the end of the project, I deliver a comprehensive wrap-up, including key insights, outcomes, and next steps to keep the momentum going.
Staying Connected: I offer ongoing support and follow-up sessions to help you implement the recommendations and achieve lasting success.

My Story

A journey of creativity, sustainability,
& beyond

1983 – 1998

Born in Cape Town, South Africa, my life has been a colourful tapestry of contradictions, cultures and environments. My mother is a rebel that can make just about anything with almost nothing and has an unparalleled attention to detail, and my father; a recluse that can imagine undiscovered universes and explain them to you like a poet.

Growing up as an only child I learned early on to be independent and adaptable. My childhood was marked by frequent moves and numerous schools, which lead me to developing the ability to quickly find my community.

The early 2000’s

Despite believing I would grow up to become a human rights marine biologist, life had other plans. I left art school to pursue a career in hair and makeup, finding success in the advertising industry—working on campaigns for global brands, and award winning film projects like Blood Diamond. This chapter taught me invaluable lessons in humanity and humility, and unbeknownst to me, started shaping my professional ethos.

A serendipitous discovery of mineral makeup on a road trip through America in 2006 sparked an adventure in natural cosmetics.

2009 – 2011

In 2009, I founded Mukup Creatives, a pioneering agency that provided assistant makeup artists with the support and flexibility they needed.

In 2010, I (accidentally) found myself as the Creative Producer for 36 Boutiques, South Africa’s first online luxury e-commerce site. I led the creative direction and managed production for all shoots and campaigns.

2011 was a transformative year, filled with travel and adventure that brought seismic personal growth and new perspectives.

2012 – 2018

By 2012, I was back in London, chasing my dream of becoming a world-renowned makeup artist. Instead, I found my ‘green’ beauty niche and a new way of thinking. The scarcity of professional products pushed me to innovate, helping me hone my craft and develop a signature style that kept me busy—even being named as One To Watch by trend forecasters, WGSN in 2017.

2013, I co-founded Novel Beings with stylist Alice Wilby. A first-of-its-kind artist agency dedicated to representing conscious creatives working with brands whose values aligned. This evolved into A Novel Approach, a boutique agency crafting impactful campaigns for ethical fashion brands and organisations like Birdsong and Fashion Revolution. We designed campaigns with low environmental impact and high social impact from the outset—long before we could measure our carbon footprint!

2019 – Today
By 2019, I reached another pivotal juncture in my career. Becoming increasingly aware of the climate and ecological crises, I felt a calling to retrain and significantly contribute to reducing my environmental impact and helping others do the same. This led me to what I do today.

Some highlights include serving as an assessor for CISL’s ‘Communicating for Influence and Impact’ short course, providing strategic support for the 2022 Commonwealth Games Opening & Closing Ceremonies, and becoming a registered IEMA trainer.

My non-linear journey is enriched by a hybrid professional identity that lives at the intersections of my skills and talents. As a Creative Sustainableist at Vujà Dé Creative Solutions and founder of REGENASYST games, I think I’m living up to my commitment of using creativity to engage and enable others to participate in a future fit for all.
