1983 – 1998
Born in Cape Town, South Africa, my life has been a colourful tapestry of contradictions, cultures and environments. My mother is a rebel that can make just about anything with almost nothing and has an unparalleled attention to detail, and my father; a recluse that can imagine undiscovered universes and explain them to you like a poet.
Growing up as an only child I learned early on to be independent and adaptable. My childhood was marked by frequent moves and numerous schools, which lead me to developing the ability to quickly find my community.
The early 2000’s
Despite believing I would grow up to become a human rights-marine biologist and then a flying trapeze artist, life had other plans. I left art school to pursue a career in hair and makeup, finding success in the advertising industry—working on campaigns for global brands, and award winning film projects like Blood Diamond. This chapter taught me invaluable lessons in balancing speed and perfection, working alone and in teams, and humanity and humility. Unbeknownst to me, these period started shaping my professional ethos.
A serendipitous discovery of mineral makeup on a road trip through America in 2006 sparked my curiosity in natural cosmetics.
2009 – 2011
In 2009, I founded Mukup Creatives, a pioneering agency that provided assistant makeup artists with the support and flexibility they needed.
In 2010, I (accidentally) found myself as the Creative Producer for 36 Boutiques, South Africa’s first online luxury e-commerce site. I led the creative direction and managed production for all shoots and campaigns.
2011 was a transformative year, filled with travel and adventure that brought seismic personal growth and new perspectives.
2012 – 2018
By 2012, I was back in London, chasing my dream of becoming a world-renowned makeup artist in the fashion world. It turns out, I wasn’t cut from the same cloth. Instead, I found my ‘green’ beauty niche and a new way of thinking. The scarcity of professional products pushed me to innovate, helping me hone my craft and develop a signature style that kept me busy—even being named as One To Watch by trend forecasters, WGSN in 2017.
2013, I co-founded Novel Beings with stylist Alice Wilby. A first-of-its-kind artist agency dedicated to representing conscious creatives working with brands whose values aligned. This evolved into A Novel Approach, a boutique agency crafting impactful campaigns for ethical fashion brands and organisations like Birdsong and Fashion Revolution. We designed campaigns with low environmental impact and high social impact from the outset—long before we could measure our carbon footprint!
2019 – Today
By 2019, I reached another pivotal juncture in my career. Becoming increasingly aware of the climate and ecological crises, I felt a calling to retrain and significantly contribute to reducing my environmental impact and helping others do the same. First through a collaboration called Conscious Beauty Union, and now more broadly, across industries, sectors and business types.
Some highlights include serving as an assessor for CISL’s ‘Communicating for Influence and Impact’ short course, providing strategic support for the 2022 Commonwealth Games Opening & Closing Ceremonies, contributing to BAFTA alberts resources and academy and becoming a registered IEMA trainer.
My non-linear journey is enriched by a hybrid professional identity that lives at the intersections of my creative talents, technical skills and systems knowledge. As a Creative Sustainableist at Vujà Dé Creative Solutions and founder of REGENASYST, I think I’m living up to my commitment of using creativity to engage and enable others to participate in a future fit for all.
The future
Who knows where I will end up. That might depend on collaborating with you…

A useful & thoughtfully designed session
Khandiz did a beautiful job of guiding us through a values session, navigating our multiple personality types, and supporting us with reaching the end goal. A few of the sceptics amongst us were completely on board by the end of the workshop which in itself is a wonderful skill to behold. Thank you for facilitating a useful and thoughtfully designed session.
